clearMDM Manually Merge Matching Records
This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to manually Merge Matching Records and specify which values to use within the Master Record fields. Attribute Groups determine the Merge Rules to populate the field values on a Master Record, but sometimes there might be the requirement to manually data steward the results and change the values for certain Matched Record Pairs.
To Merge Records Manually, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Matched Record Pairs tab within clearMDM. (NOTE: There will need to be Matched Record Pairs already created to follow these steps).
- Select a Matched Record Pair.
- Select the option to ‘View the Matched Record Group‘. A list of the Matched Record Pairs within the Matched Record Group are displayed.
- Click on the Merge button.
- This will display the list of records and the values that will be selected to populate the fields on the Master Record. These values are based upon the Attribute Group Settings. The Master Record is also selected based upon the Settings preference.
At this point, you can decide to override the Attribute Group results and pick which value to use to populate the Master Record. There is also the ability to be able to enter new values if required.

The Merge Now button is displayed on the Matched Record Group page. Selecting this button will Merge the Record Group in real-time. Merge Now requires that all Matched Record Pairs are set to Accepted or Rejected and that at least one pair has been Accepted.
