This article provides instructions on where and how to configure Data Sources within clearMDM. The Installation Guide document should be referred to for more detailed implementation support along with other referenced documentation.
A Data Source is configured to expose Source Records to the Matching and Conversion MDM operations. Each Data Source has distinct configuration that includes a defined Source Object and Target Object. Where the objects are different (i.e. an External Data Source) a field mapping is required to enable cross-object processing. Multiple Data Sources can be configured for both Source Objects and Target Objects.
Data Source Settings
The Data Source Settings within the MDM Settings Tab provides the following sections:
Data Source Settings; Matching Settings; Merge Settings; Conversion Settings; Source to Target Field Settings; Child Object Settings
We will look at each one in turn.
Data Source Settings
This is where the Data Source Setting is activated for MDM operations. Each field provides help and also the Installation Guide document.
Matching Settings
The Matching MDM operation processes Source Records exposed by Data Sources via auto-match or selective matching configurations. Again, the Installation Guide provides further detailed information about each setting along with the Quick Start Guides.
Merge Settings
The Merge MDM operation merges matches Source Records with flexible configuration options in respect to traceability between Source Records and Master Records. Within this tab you can set the Merge settings to Active.
Conversion Settings
Conversion is Master Record creation on a one-to-one basis for unmatched records or external data where matching is not required. This is where Conversion Settings is set to active. Further information about Conversion can be found in the Installation Guide.
Source to Target Field Settings
External Data Sources where the Source Object is not the same object as the Target Object require a Field Mapping to be defined. For each Target Object field that is active for matching a Source Object field of the same data type must be specified. Cross-object MDM operations apply dynamic field translations in order to match or convert records with different data structures.
Child Object Settings
The Re–parenting MDM operation re-parents Child Records using setting values specified per Data Source. Within this tab you can select which child objects to reparent to the Master Record.
