clearMDM is now officially Lightning Ready and joins the growing collection (178 apps out of 3,050 at time of writing) of certified apps on the AppExchange – at a relatively early stage (first 5%).

This video post showcases the now complete Lightning Experience UI and formed part of the application to Salesforce for the Lightning Ready certification. Updated for Winter ’17.

The screenshot below provides an early view of the beautiful new clearMDM Lightning UI. The completed Lightning Ready release is due next month.

clearMDM version 1.12 introduces Custom Rollups for Text Fields. Previous versions supported numeric fields only. Text field rollups provide the capability to bring notes or reference value data together in a single field on the master record. This new feature has been added in line with customer feedback and is intended to support use cases requiring a complete at-a-glance view at the master record level that includes text data hidden (one or more clicks away) at the transactional level.

As the architect of a specialist master data management AppExchange solution, I’m often asked to explain the difference between standard Salesforce features and the clearMDM product. This is a very reasonable question that warrants a complete answer. This post provides an overview of the standard Salesforce platform features related to master data management and outlines the use cases that are supported natively and those that require a specialist MDM tool such as clearMDM.

For the first post on the clearMDM blog I feel it’s appropriate to provide an introduction for clearMDM that describes the primary intent behind the product . The term Master Data Management can mean many things in different contexts, in this post I hope to clarify the clearMDM perspective and why Master Data Management on the Salesforce platform makes great sense.
